Have just spent half a day removing the grout from my bathroom floor, approx 4 square metres in 330mm x 330mm tiles, 2 - 3 mm gap, it has done an excellent job in the main, although in parts a narrower tip than 3mm would have been useful for getting deeper but, all in all, it was definitely worth the money! Just have to stop for a cup of tea every hour to let it cool down again!
This is a good tool for doing a specific job. We use these for trade use. It is best suited for small areas or places where you can’t physically get a Fein multimaster into, which is what we use it for. It is very easy to use, no real skill needed but tiles can be marked if you are careless. Also it is not fast compared to the Fein but it only cost a few quid in comparison to the Fein machine so don’t expect the same performance. But it is way faster than hand work. It is however a very useful bit of kit and it saves hours of hand scraping into corners and behind pipes and around shower controls etc. Noise is an issue but nothing a good set of ear defenders can’t handle. Sensible ppe is always a must have, and should not be thought of as optional. Vitrex make professional tools, their grout out is 240v only … a 110v version would be a definite +
Definitely makes grout removal easier but it is still a quite laborious job. It is a bit noisy but i was very happy with the finished result
Very good for small grout gaps. Saves loads of time compared to manually raking out. Good value for money.
Works ok but have not found any one that sells the spare blades for this tool
I tried this tool in my bathroom as i thought it would be quicker than using the grout rakes, well i was wrong! It was totally useless, it didn't have enough power to break up the grout in one, two, three or even four attempts - basically it just didn't work. My advice would be, don't bother wasting your money on this tool, stick to the grout rakes or use an angle grinder with cutting disc - very carefully!!
Would take a couple of days solid to do round a bath and you have to keep stoping to let the divice cool down. In the end i had to go and hire a diomond head grout remover to do the job. If you only have a few tiles to clear out fine otherwise save your money.
